Spot it!

The other night, my fiancé was teaching art lessons to a coworker/friend's daughter.  While he was teaching, her and I decided to go to the little restaurant here in town for a bite to eat.  Her ten year old son came with us!  I would like to add that this coworker's children are hilarious!  Anyways, they brought a game to play at the restaurant.

Spot It is the name of the game!  It's so fun and addictive, AND can be played in English, French, or any other language your heart desires!

I borrowed that game the next day to play with my students.  We had a Spot It tournament!  This game is simply a deck of cards with a bunch of different objects, animals or plants on them.  Everyone has a card facing up in front of them.  The card flipper flips a card and sets it in the middle.  If you have one of the images that's also on the middle card you have to say the name of the object, animal or plant and put your hand on that middle card before the others.  If you're the first person to do this, you get the card.  That new card is now the one you have on the top of your deck.  The card flipper keeps flipping the cards one at a time until their are no more cards.  Every player must then count his or her cards and the one with the most cards wins!

Simple enough, right?

There are so many different images on those cards that my students are learning a whole bunch of new vocabulary words very quickly.  I've also heard that the
re is more than one Spot It game, so there is SO much vocabulary to learn through these card games.

The kids had a blast playing Spot It!  So did I, actually!  If you teach French, or English or any other language, do yourself a favour and get this game!

*The pink papers are cheat sheets with the vocabulary words in French for those who need them.  BUT, there is not much time to check, Spot It is a game of SPEED! :)
